Sorry, but the St. Valentine's festival, Sutton Coldfield, is CANCELLED.Dear Supporters, Unfortunately, the news is not good about the festival which has struggled for some time to find a permanent home. For various reasons outside our control, suitable venues in Sutton Coldfield have dried up. Without a main concert venue, we simply cannot run the festival. When I founded the Festival, my intention was to raise as much as we could for the children supported by NCH by putting on a good value, fully audited charity event. We have achieved that aim. To the artists that have agreed to perform this year, may I thank you and apologise for the short notice but we tried in vain right into the new year to get an alternative main festival venue. The festival was supported by some of the finest, big-hearted musicians, singers, dancers and spoken-word artists the world of folk could ever have wished for. They gave their whole souls to their performances which celebrated our wonderful heritage. they came from just around the corner; they came from all around the world. The echo of their efforts will continue to help NCH children for many years to come. Thank you for caring and sharing your talents with us. The people who also helped in other ways have everything to be proud of. Our wonderful sound men, lighting engineers, MCs, voluntary caterers, stewards and web site designer all contributed their services free of charge. They spent many hours working for the festival and their voluntary efforts meant that we were able to raise the most we could. Folk magazines, the BBC, and many folk clubs also played a big part in the success of this festival. Thank you for taking the time to make a difference for the welfare of the 100,000 children protected and supported by NCH, the children's charity., Best regards, Bob Lines |
